Normally I just toss them, but I've started to save them (at least the sterling and gold-filled bits) to sent to Rio Grande for recycling and cash.

Rio accepts silver, gold, gold-filled, palladium, fired
PMC and platinum items.

What's it worth? Below are the rates on the day I checked the site.

For credit:

Solid fine and sterling silver scrap is calculated at 75%
of the current silver market and applied to your Rio Grande account. (Note:
Because sterling silver contains less pure silver by weight, and
because Rio pays both sterling and fine silver at this percentage, you
will actually receive payment in the equivalent of 81% for sterling
silver).

Solid karat gold is calculated at 75% of the current gold
value and applied to your Rio account.

For cash:

Silver and gold payments are calculated at 65% and paid in a
check.

Also:

Silver dust is paid (or credited) at 40% of current market.
                           Gold-filled scrap is paid
(or credited) at 1.89% of the current gold market (market price x
.0189)
Palladium and platinum scrap are paid (or credited) at 60% of their current metal value.
I won't be retiring on the proceeds of the scraps I recycle, but it makes more sense than tossing it in the garbage. For more information, go to riogrande.com/scrap.

looking for worry beads parts, a great ideas for for JEWELRY designs

aknhw@comcast.net

looking for worry beads parts like Turkish style but less expensive in USA to buy, but I can not find them.

Please see the following web sites to get an idea:

http://anatoliana.com/

http://anatoliana.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_11&products_id=4648

http://anatoliana.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_19&products_id=2930

http://www.eminbead.com

http://www.eminbead.com/product.php?group=2&lang=en

http://www.eminbead.com/product.php?page=1&lang=en&group=11

I added some new entries
tonight. I have a few more I want to add soon. I am blogging about my
work and what I offer. I also am going to blog about interesting stuff
besides jewelry. I also blog about other artists work. I am currently
looking for artists to feature on my blog. I am offering my time and
free advertisement. Please check out my crafting blog and let me know
if you might be interested. I will consider all inquires but all will
not be approved. If you do quality work... you have a better chance of
being blogged. Sorry... don't know how to put it politely. I'm very
busy but try to set time aside to blog. I want to blog about quality...
not quantity. There are many factors that come into play. I'm new at

They look good so I bought a few of each to check quality before investing in more and was very pleased apart from one particular 6mm barrel, otherwise to be honest you would not know they were plated...they have osme really big ones...over 20mm.

I have used sterling till now but this recession has meant customers are asking me to cut costs..& the only way is to buy cheaper materials without compromising on the look...these beads do that.

take a look see anyway.

(Such cloths are inexpensive and last for years, available from many jewelry making supply companies.) You can store your finished pieces wrapped in anti-tarnish cloth (sold for silverware) and also store the finished items in air tight bags - like a zip-lock. The cloth is available by the yard in fabric stores. You want to keep the air away from the silver metal. Air exposure is what oxidizes the silver with loss of the high shine. Now if you are pre-tarnishing the silver with a chemical (such as liver of sulpher) then the new tarnish is less obvious. You can bring back bright highlights by polishing with something like finest steel wool. Be sure to rinse well to remove any bits of steel which will rust. Don't rub or burnish too hard, you don't want to wear through the silver plate.

Providence Whole Bead Show

The Whole Bead Show

Providence RI
September 26-28, 2008

Friday & Saturday 10am to 6pm
Sunday Noon to 5pm

(The Location)
Rhode Island Convention Center
Hall A
One Sabin Street
Providence RI 02903

PARKING
$9.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------BUYER INFORMATION
This show is open to the general public, and wholesale buyers who bring a valid resale license.
