My name is erin, I am from Canada, I am 31 years old. I work full time for a home health care provider as a nursing program coordinator and administrative assistant to our regional manager. I live with my partner - I use that term because our relationship is a true partnership. He works in automotive service as a client consultant and parts manager - but like me, he has a side project. He is a self-taught director of photography (lighting technician, camera-man/videographer) and still photographer and operates an independent production company. He's also my business manager and a HUGE support for my projects. In fact, he shoots most of my marketing photos - you can tell which ones I took and which ones he took, there is a marked difference. My mother makes jewellery as a hobby, and she makes poly-clay beads. She is extremely supportive of me, and frequently sends me beads she has made for use in my projects. She's a professional artist, and she works in a variety of media, but her specialty is painting murals and portraits. Although, lately she has been sculpting using poly-clay. I don't really have a background in arts. I started making jewellery just as a hobby. I mostly made friendship bracelets from seed beads, because at the time I didn't even wear jewellery myself. More recently, I revamped my entire wardrobe, and started wearing necklaces. Since I already had some basic materials, I decided to make some custom pieces to go with my new clothes. It wasn't long before the compliments started; followed by hints that perhaps I could make a similar piece for someone; followed by offers to commission pieces. I'm hoping that people other than friends and co-workers will appreciate my work. I have a few pieces at one of the local consignment stores; and I plan to get a booth/table at a couple of festivals/events this summer. I do have an etsy.com store, and I have received some positive feedback (although no sales) from it.
