About Mary Phillips

I began my love of making jewelry in high school. I used copper wire from the hardware store to fashion wire earrings with spirals and dangles for pocket money. I used glass or wood beads as accents. Twenty five years later, I sent for a kit to work from home making bugle and seed bead earrings. Although I didn't get involved with the company (too much like working in a factory), I did fall in love with bead weaving and began my great adventure. In 2005 I began selling my jewelry after finding out if I had a business license, I could get my supplies for considerably less. Since then I have sold to friends, through dress shops, through galleries, through an Etsy page (www.moonstonemp.etsy.com), and am now preparing to set up my own website. I also teach a small evening beading class here in Sarasota (FL) that meets 3 times a month. My business name is Moonstone Jewelry & Design. Most of my work is custom designed for the individual that looks at my Etsy page to get a basic idea, then gives me specifics and I work up a special design created just for them.
