    Clearing out excess jewelry.

Hi everyone! I was just wonder what do you all do with you excess jewelry setting around? Some pieces that I make sell quickly, but I've noticed I have some pieces stored in baggies from when I first started making jewelry years ago. For those of us who have made jewelry a while we can only gift so much to friends and family before they are overloaded! lol

So what do you do with all of you jewelry that hasnt sold and make room for new pieces. Or is everyone selling or giving away everything that they create?I plan on making a quite a few new pieces and starting to think that after a few more years of jewelry making, I'am going to have a big stash of finished pieces just sitting around.

Good question!  I wear a lot of my pieces (good advertising!).  If those that don't sell have been sitting around too long, I'll take them apart & re-use the beads in a new design.

What about donating it to the local women's shelter?  I'm sure that these women would love something pretty for themselves, and I would think you could use it as a write off...

    just a thought

I have the same situation. I have new inventory and some older inventory. I have a website, so all new items get posted there. If they don't sell right away, I will wait a month or two, then have a sale. If the items still don't sell, I will break them down and use the beads, components for new projects. I use good beading wire, so when necklaces are broken-apart, the wire is not long enough for another necklace, so I save the wire for bracelets. It's my way of recycling wire

I also have a bad habit of not separating my beads when I am finished with a design Initially, I try to keep everything in order by stone type, color, etc. Sometimes I just get busy and all extras get put in a bin. Once or twice a year, I will sort out everything and all the misc. beads, components and pendants I haven't used, etc. will be put up for sale on E-Bay. I just sold 20# of beads for $120. The buyer was so thrilled and the $120 will go towards more beads tomorrow at Bead Fest!!
