What can I do with a strand of orange chip beads?

     Hi Everyone!

Any ideas on what I can do with a strand of orange chip beads?

I've had the strand for about a year and haven't had any inspiration on what to do with them...I think I want to make a necklace, but I want to combine the orange chip beads with some other colors...any ideas?

    THANKS!!

    Maybe:

Orange, Teal and brown-Orange chips, teal glass, wood or picture jasper with copper spacers

Orange, Mustard yellow and Salmon-Orange chips, mustard ceramic tubes, salmon wire lace or shell

Orange, Lime and copper-Orange chips, lime window beads and antique copper cubes

    This is fun!

Auntiel has some great ideas.  How about adding a pendant to her suggestions.  Use a wood or copper pendant for a more earthy look.  Use a shell pendant for a summer/beachy look.  Use a turquoise or fire agate stone pendant, even a ceramic one to add subtance to the strand of chips.  Alice

Wow, both of the replies were great!!  I forgot to add that I don't look good in earth tones (makes me look washed out...), so I think adding teal or turquoise might be just the thing to brighten the strand of orange (brownish) chip beads.

Auntiel, you seem very good at combining colors!  Peachtree, thanks for the turquoise and shell pendant suggestions-great combos also!

    Hello FXBeads,

I did a project for our Beading with Gemstones that used fuchsia-colored agate with bright blue (Caribbean blue opal) and bright orange (sun) crystals. The three colors went very nicely together.

    Good luck with your project!

     Hi Lindsay,

Since I had bought that issue of Beading with Gemstones, I immediately looked up the necklace to which you made reference.  It looks gorgeous!  The Caribbean blue opal works very well with the fuchsia!

    THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

I love orange and blue together. It's also a great combination for fall. What are the chips? Carnelian, sunstone, garnet? A denim blue is fun, or a deep lapis blue works well too. I once made a 3-strand necklace with orange carnelian and blue chalcedony. It was gorgeous.

You could also get a jump-start on Halloween and use the orange chips with some pearls and black onyx and make a fun necklace or bracelet. I have seen lots of lampwork Halloween beads and silver Halloween charms.

I also recently made a necklace to match a skirt that was orange, hot pink, olive, and brown! I used orange Czech glass beads, hot pink chalcedony, olivine, and smokey topaz beads and just made this HUGE twisted necklace. It turned out great and the colors could be worn into the fall.

The orange chips would also be pretty with yellow and golds for the coming fall.

    Have fun

     Hello Fellow Beaders!

Someone gave me this strand of orange chip beads; I don't know exactly what type of stone these chips are...definitely not carnelian.

Lately I've hit a beading slump; the high cost of metals is really putting a crimp (pun intended) in my beading...

Again, THANK YOU ALL so much for your great suggestions!!

I want to thank you for asking this question! I recently ordered a mix of 10 strands of chips and got 2 strands of Amber? something orange/yellow and I have no idea what to do with them. It's such a specific color, you never know who's going to like it. So thanks for asking this question, I too am going to try the suggestions made here.

Did you do anything with yours? What happened?

No, I haven't had time to work w/ the chip beads...some unexpected things happened and I found myself moving, so until I can set up my beading area again, beading will have to wait...
