Where have you sold your jewelry?

For me it was at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton. This is great for anyone who has their own art to sell and doesn’t want to pay a big booth fee. Their shows are the 2nd Sunday of every month now through October. I did very well there. Another good place would be The Blue Orchid flower shop in Orange. Their booth fee there is 45 dollars and their shows are the first Saturday of every month. I tried the swap meet, but didn’t do well. I'd love to hear where you sold and what kind of luck you had.

Hi All!

Based on postings from a few other threads, I thought that perhaps I would start one about listing websites for which we jewelry artisans can sell our wares. We all about Etsy and how overcrowded it is with jewelry. I thought I would start with a list of websites for which I am familiar and, perhaps, some of you can add to this list. Perhaps, we can also discuss where we have had the best luck in sales? The way I see it, we are all in this together.

My list of artisan websites is below. And, yes, I am on several of these. It's like real estate - location, location, location. And, from my point of view - exposure, exposure, exposure! :)

My best sales has come from Etsy.com. I have also had a few sales from Yessy and Boundlessgallery. I have been on all three of these websites for under one year.

I have been showing my jewelry on absolutearts.com for several years, using the free listing. I have not had any sales. I have received a few inquiries, but that is it. I upgraded several months ago. Nothing has come from it still.

We all know that different types of people are attracted to different websites due to the type of art and price range. It's just like the location or type of store. So, my comments may just be due to my work not being of interest to the customers frequenting these websites. And, it can simply be the state of the economy (I keep telling myself this over and over!).

Regardless, I hope that these websites and future postings to this thread will assist many of you!

Pricing to include Taxes

Hi,

Just wondering how other businesses are coping in today's market trend. Beading seems to be on the downward trend in craft. I have had a website for almost 10 years www.beadinspired.com and lately seems like the internet has somewhat "cooled" in traffic.

Could anyone give some tips, hints or maybe directions on where they have found direction in beading business. I am open to suggestions. I love beading and the business started originally cause I couldnt source great beads at reasonable prices, especially in Australia where I live.

What have been some good advertising or promotional tools?

Need Ideas

I need ideas for taking my jewelry to work to sell

A couple years ago I read to use double sided sticky tape with trading card pages to hold the jewelry. I've also used photo pages for the necklaces & put the pages in large notebook binders.

Problem is the double sided sticky tape doesn't really work that well. It's hard to get in place with in small openings. Plus it doesn't really hold all that well. The tape releases and the jewelry falls out or sticks on the tape. Or the tape won't release & you have to fight with it to get it opened. And the pockets rip apart.

When I began beading a few years ago I loved handmade lampwork beads. I eventually began making my own for my jewelry. I became so in love with making them, I almost completely stopped making jewelry and just kept making beads.

I keep my prices reasonable so everyone can enjoy them.

New Crafting Blog

Hello,

Has anyone sent any finished pieces to Australia?

A customer from Ohio ordered a pair of earrings for her friend who lives in AU, and asked if I could send them to her. As I was setting up the label for priority mail through the USPS website, a list of prohibited items came up which included: "silver (manufactured or not); precious stones; jewelry; and other valuable articles are prohibited."

Have you had any problems sending handmade jewlery to Australia?

I'm also being asked to describe the contents of the package. The earrings are made of Turquoise, Howlite & Sterling Silver.

Any help provided will be greatly apprecciated.

Earring displays on screens or fabric

Hello everyone,

I sell my jewelry in a friend's salon and I've always been interested in the ideas that I've seen for displaying earrings that utilize either a screen mesh in a frame or hanging fabric. The displays look so clean and neat but does anyone have an idea of how you could put price tags on the earrings without ruining the look? My earrings are not all priced the same because it depends on the materials used so I can't just tag the display. Any ideas? I'm stumped...any help would be appreciated.

My hubby and I just finished building my new website and I'd love some feedback. Keep in mind it is just in it's infancy. I still need to add info about how to purchase a piece and info on shipping and return policy etc. And I want to make a 'sold' gallery as well as a page for information about the components I use in my jewelry. How do you get paid at Special Events

I have an opportunity to purchase a vendor table at a women's event for cost of $200.00. I am set up to receive cash and/or checks, however not for credit cards. What do you do when you participate in such an event? Does it work if you are not set up for credit card payments?
