Measure the ankle you are making the bracelet for with a piece of yarn (if you know who you are making it for) and use that as a guide. In my beading classes, I have them do this, then tape the yarn to the surface they are working on and that gives a great and easy measurement that is accurate. And as far as what to use....left over beads are great, but yes, keep with the smaller stuff. The crystals and liquid silver....oh yes, they make beautiful ankle bracelets. As far as crimping, ankle bracelets seem to have a 'rougher life' than other jewelry, so I crimp twice on each end to prevent that 'snap' and loss that can easily happen. Good luck and show us your work

Even on large ankles, dainty is better. I have used 4mm bicone swarovskis, 4mm czech fire polished, and then various small pressed glass or stones. I try to keep those around 6mm. And for sure you want to include in a little bit of metal - like the basic daisy spacers here and ther. Also, I like to finish mine with a little bit of chain link with a crystal dangle at the end; it makes it fit more ankle sizes, plus the sparkle is nice. And 9" is the standard ankle length, just as an fyi.

Re: ankle bracelet?

I've used just about everything - I like chain with some beads in between - liquid silver or gold work well and so do seed beads and 4mm beads. I would stick with a 49 strand wire and just make sure you crimp well. good luck.

ankle bracelet?

any suggestions on what to use for an anklet?
