Where have you sold your jewelry?

For me it was at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton. This is great for anyone who has their own art to sell and doesn’t want to pay a big booth fee.  Their shows are the 2nd Sunday of every month now through October.  I did very well there. Another good place would be The Blue Orchid flower shop in Orange. Their booth fee there is 45 dollars and their shows are the first Saturday of every month.  I tried the swap meet, but didn’t do well. I'd love to hear where you sold and what kind of luck you had.

    Thank you! Jojo

Re: Where have you sold your jewelry?

I've been selling jewelry, silk flower arrangements, and other "crafty" items at a monthly trade fair, Third Monday Trade Days, in McKinney, Texas, for a little over a year now.  Business started out slow, but has picked up drastically this year, in part due to high gas prices (people aren't traveling for vacations, so they're looking for something local to do), in part due to stability (I've been around long enough I'm not a here-today-gone-tomorrow vendor), and in part due to customer satisfaction and word of mouth advertising.  My biggest problem is that some people see Trade Days as "flea market" or "garage sale" and don't want to pay my prices.  Fortunately, there are enough people who understand what they're getting for me to stay in business.  I label all my pieces with a name and what I used in each piece; customers seem to like to know what's in a piece.  I have some pieces that friends have made that aren't labelled, just priced, but they don't seem to sell as well.  Over the winter, all I sold was jewelry, no floral arrangements.  For the last three or four months, I've only sold one or two pieces of jewelry, while floral arrangements practically walk out the door.  I expect the jewelry side of things to pick up again as Christmas nears.

I sell most of my jewellery at two open houses I have a year.At my home.  One in the Spring and one at the end of November.  I have been very successful this way.  I have tried the odd craft fair but find the competition too great, usually lots of jewellery tables.  I also do the same thing at my work twice  a year, same dates.  I work in a hospital so just send a flyer around to all the different departments to come to my office.  At my house fair I serve wine and cheese, invite all the neighbours, plus all my friends.  I send out a nice invite telling them that if they bring a friend they will get a free gift, which is a pair of earrings.  I now have people asking me if they can come to my parties.  I also have one of my closest friends being the cashier as I go around the room talking to the various customers. I give that friend a choice of any one set or piece of my jewellery.

Wow. I am trying to think about where I haven't sold jewelry..............

coffee shops, health food stores, music festivals, biker rallies, art shows, galleries, gift shops, music shops, salons, town festivals, home shows, craft fairs, expo's, farmers markets, social workers offices, pig roasts, pow wows, church events, bead society meetings, gem and mineral shows, schools, gun shows, car shows, retail stores, consignment shops, funky second hand stores, Tucson, Quartzite, gift expo's,  ................ anywhere there are humans who like to look good is a possibility <grin>.

WOW! You' are on the move! Thanks for giving me ideas for selling more of what God has given me to share. I sell my jewelry by wearing, at the office, salons, church, and home parties.
