    Selling on Consignment

Can anyone give me some information about selling my Sterling Silver Jewelry on consignment?  I am absolutely clueless...LOL.  Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

This is a very delicate subject. First of all be sure to protect yourself in every way possible.

I am currently in a Consignment shop, that is all they do. The fees are a little confusing. A 1 (deep) x 4 (high) x 4 (across) ft, booth rental is $45 per month, when I sell an item they also keep 10% (this is for credit card fees and check verification fees). They also pay all the sales tax to the state. When they have a sale you are included in the sale (10 - 20% off), last usually one week. You can never have a sale or a notice that you are closing your booth. I get paid on the 16th of each month.

It's in a good location in town and I do very good there.

A friend of my does consignment in her shop. You get a small space, there isn't a set area. I have earrings up in an area of about 2 x 2 ft on a wall. I have about 30 earrings up. They range in prices of $10 - $30. She charges 4j0% commission, she pays the sales tax. She pays me once a month.

     There's my info for you.
