    Spanish Glossary/Glosario en Español (?)

    Hello,

I'm interested in finding a Bead Glossary in Spanish, does anyone know where to go for this one?

    Thank you much.

    Hola,

Ando buscando un diccionario/glosario de los términos de "bisutería" que tanto usamos en inglés y que, por lo menos yo , en español no sabemos lo suficiente.

    Mil gracias. ;)

    Valeria.

     Hola, Valeria,

Are you looking for a glossary entirely in Spanish? Or  for a glossary with both English and Spanish for bead and jewelry terms?

We did a British and American glossary on our UK portal http://www.rings-things.com/uk/usa4uk.html . Maybe we could expand that concept with Spanish? We have a list of  bead and jewelry words to help our  phone staff's limited Spanish when they work with our Spanish speaking customers.

In ANY language the industry specific terms are not easily learned except by working in that industry. There have been many times in China that I wanted a copy of "Lonely Planet Conversational Beading in Mandarin and English"!!!!  Alas, its out of print.<g>

Hello & Hola to you Russ!

Yes, English/Spanish, because the spanglish I got down pretty good! If I don't know it I make it up!  I do like the one on your website, that is sort of what I'm looking for in spanish, just so I can know the terms.  I think I know a few,  but just to be on the safe side, I would like to have one.

At least in Tijuana, BC, Mx they were calling crimps "grapas" which is what staples are, and this is at one shop I visited last year when I went over there, this year I did not go to any shops so I did not expand my spanish "beadavulary". Headpins were "alfileres", and pewter was pewter . I dont know what earhooks are, maybe "ganchos" which is hangers and or regular hooks.

When I'm trying to explain to someone in spanish how to make a bracelet, I get stuck a lot a times with the terms so I start mixing the english terms or start making up terms!

Anyways, if I don't find one I gues I will start one, there is also Spain Spanish and North & South American Spanish, let's not get crazy now! So it may not be that EZ!

Well Russ, thanks for the info and the interest, if you don't mind sharing your spanish list I would appreciate it greatly!

    Have a great day,

    Valeria

Your idea intrigued my daughter (who used to speak a little Spanish) and a linguist (who speaks a bit of many languages) working in her marketing department. They are thinking about working on it when there is a spare moment.
