Selling at a poolside party this Sunday - display question

    Hello!

I was invited to sell my work at a poolside party this weekend.  The organizer said there will be 250-300 people expected to attend (most of which have buying power).

I have never tried selling at a party before (aside from home jewelry parties, which are completely different), so I don't know how it's going to be.  All I know is that there's going to be good entertainment, good food, and only four or five more tables selling stuff (i don't think there's anyone else selling jewelry though).  The party's at 4pm to 10pm, and i don't have to pay for anything, except the 5% commission the host gets for my sales.

    My questions:

    1.  Should I bring my displays (earring frames, tabletop mannequins for necklaces, lifesize mannequin) or should i just lay everything on the table?  I'm thinking that since this isn't really your usual craft fair, everything's going to be a bit more laid back.

    2. Do you think the people ARE going to be buying?  I'm thinking they're out there to party... not to shop...

I'd love to hear your tips about this kind of selling opportunity.

I would definately bring your displays.  It may not be your usual craft fair, but remember, you are there to sell and you want your jewelry to look its best.  I find that having mulit levels, busts, displays, ect really helps draw attention to certain pieces of jewelry.

One suggestion I would have is bring alot of paper towels.  If its a pool party, someone may be walking by and want to touch something but says.... Oh, thats ok, my hands are wet.  Immediately offer them something to dry them off.  (just incase)

The people may not be there to buy, but you never know!  Anything can happen.  Love to hear how you did after the party.  Good Luck!

I would bring everything you normally would.  Plus extra business cards, if you have them.  If people are interested and do not want to buy now, but later, they will know how to get a hold of you and be able to.  Have fun and good luck!
