what to do with a vintage, clip on earring?

I discovered one really cool vintage, clip on earring and I want to create a necklace using the earring as a pendant or focal point.

Any ideas on how to do this?  Any ideas to inspire me?

I am really puzzled as how to attach the earring to the necklace...

If anyone out there has experimented with this kind of project...I would LOVE to see what you have created!

Thanks in advance for all your help!

You could make the necklace and then simply clip the earring on. Or you can cut and file the clip portion off of the earring then apply a pin or bail.

There have been articles in magazines  showing these processes....

Yes, I would cut off the clip part, file it down and then attach one of those glue on bails.  There are some really nice ones out there.  You can get decorative or plain in any metal color.

    Hope I helped,

I take the clip off the earring and leave the part where the hinge would go, I take a headpin and loop it to make a bail and I'm able to convert the earring into a pendant. No filing needed.  I do the same if it is a post, I bend it into a bail.  Some clip on's don't have this type of hinge then you have no choice put to file and glue. Great posts just joined and looking forward to being part of the community.

    Linda~

This worked GREAT!  I didn't have anything to file the clip down with so I tried creating a bail out of a head pin and it turned out awesome!

Thanks for your suggestion and welcome!
