What's left of the "bead district" is on 37th between Fifth Ave and Broadway and up and down Broadway from 37th. there are also some bead stores with gemstones around the Diamond District at 47th at Broadway. NY Yellow pages are a good resource. So are the on line phone books.

i live in manhattan and have found several good ones for the serious bead freak

Phoenix Beads on 37th street bet 5th and 6th  - if you have a resale # bring a certificate  , ask for John .

they give me a 30% discount , i think it's because 0f the resale #, kind of "to the trade"  they have a wide selection and are very knowledgeable and helpful

Also, i deal with LITA on Broadway bet. 27th and 28th streets

if you have resale # and certificate, some items will be sold to you at wholesale prices , others are regular price, ther is a 10% discount if you spend over 100.00$

I generally deal with Emanuel and encourage you to ask for him, great store, great stock and good prices

also  Margola on 37th street bet 5th and 6th - same deal wiht resale cert.

Thanks for jumping in with more bead sources in NYC, Rambi!  It's been a few years since I walked the bead areas in NY but I figgured old info was better than no info.

I'm familiar with Margola, a good resource for Precosia crystal. What sort of things does LITA sell?

LITA   gemstones  - beads,chips also pearls and crystals. not a place for findings or metal beads.  I'm relatively new to the bead world but their selection/price in comparison to other places is quite good.  not for the tourist trade- they sell to the industry but not just wholesale

Phoenix - same deal- an exhaustive amount of gemstones, coral, ceramic etc. 

there are others on 6th ave in the  36 st area but they are not as good and are more for the tourist trade

Thank ou for all the help. I found a lot of shops to buy beads and other stuff I needed for my beadwork.  I bought a lot of nice stuff.
