Kilobyte Couture

Brittany Forks’ makes and sells jewelry made from electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, and LEDs. She launched her online shop, Kilobyte Couture, on Etsy.com in 2006. When sales soared, she also launched her own site and blog at kilobytecouture.com.

We made mention of Brittany’s book, Kilobyte Couture, on page 16 of BeadStyle’s May issue. Kilobyte Couture celebrates geek chic (a movement embracing techie culture, indie music, Japanese style, and a DIY sensibility) with 25 jewelry and accessory projects made from electronic components.

Brittany never uses soldered, used, or lead-contaminated components in her pieces. Instead, recommends buying components from Radio Shack. In her book, Brittany shows us how to upcycle techno gadgets into jewelry, key chains, bookmarks, ID chains, even Wii charms.

You can read a brief interview with Brittany on Indie Diner.
