In December, I made lockets for holiday gifts. Along the way, I definitely had my share of trials and tribulations. Because I'm a perfectionist, I fretted over each necklace: the locket shape, photos, chain, decorative charm, etc., had to be just so. I also discovered the importance of putting the locket on a level surface to let the glaze dry. Here's the locket I gave my friend Katy:

And here's the inside, with photos of her children, Christian and Miranda:

The trick to showcasing the photos: use pictures from holiday cards. These high-res, high-contrast photos were printed on heavy card stock. (If you print photos yourself, make sure to seal them in clear packing tape first so that the glue and glaze don't seep into the paper.) If you're feeling adventurous, you can also use nail polish to embellish a locket.
I'm happy with how the lockets turned out. Maybe I'll make more for Valentine's Day....
