Artist: Betsy Youngquist

Last Friday I visited the Milwaukee Lakefront Festival of Arts. The festival takes place of the grounds of the Milwaukee Art Museum which is situated on the the shores of Lake Michigan. Beautiful weather, lovely venue, amazing art and fine craft work. One artist's work that caught my eye was the beaded antique dolls and figures made by Betsy Youngquist. Many of the figures have glass eyes and there's a sort of somber quality to her work. Betsy was featured in the Spring of 2005 in Bead&Button Bead Dreams magazine. The article is called Expressive Treatments of Nature. Her next show is August 9–10  at the Morning Glory Craft Fair in Milwaukee.
