Naomi's interview on Amazon

Jean Yates, one of BeadStyle's contributors, asked me questions about my background, the creative process, and how I see the world in general. She put the interview on her Amazon page, so check it out if you're interested. My favorite question: "Do you think you see the world differently than other people?" How each of us sees the world is an individual choice, so I'd be curious to know: How does your way of seeing the world affect your creative process?

I know — a heavy question for a Tuesday morning. But let me know anyway!

Hi Naomi,  I just discovered the BeadStyle blog through Jean Yates' blogroll.  That was a wonderful interview!  I find your question interesting but tricky, as I think the way I see the world is subject to change without notice.  The biggest influence on the way I view things these days is my little boy.  Becoming a parent was a real paradigm shift for me.  Seeing the world through my son's eyes has had a significant impact on the way I view everything.  As far as creative process is concerned, sometimes the influence is direct and sometimes more subtle.  I tend to notice everyday objects more often, because they are new and different to him.  For example, in designing jewelry, I have recently found inspiration in traffic lights.  I have also been inspired by children's stories and books.  How's that for a long-winded answer?  :)

Traffic lights — interesting! And that's great that your thinking can change without notice. Flexibility and seeing the world through someone else's eyes seem key to creativity. (And to having good relationships, incidentally!) Thanks for your thoughtful answer.
