Lucky earrings?

This weekend, I made 14 pairs of heart earrings. They're part of a gift bag that winners at the Team in Training bachelor auction will receive. So far, I've made 24 pairs, using glass hearts, Lucite, and plastic. (By the way, the auction website isn't up yet; give them a few days.) I didn't realize how challenging it would be to make 35 pairs of earrings. Strangely — or, not? — I want to make each pair unique. Even though the beads might be the same, I've tried to change up the styles with different kinds of chain. And some pairs don't have chain (for gals who prefer more conservative earrings).

Have you ever made jewelry in bulk, to donate? It's a different experience than making it to sell. I feel more invested in the charity pieces, and it matters more to me whether people like them. How about you: what's your experience with this?

I once made 150 wine charms for a gift bag for a friend's floral design show.  I thought they were really cute at the beginning, but long before I finished, I was kind of tired of them.  It just proved what I already knew, which is that I really prefer to do one of a kind items.  I did like thinking of the brides and grooms who might use them at their weddings, though.

I don't think I could make jewelry in bulk. I have a short attention span, and I think I would get tired of it quickly. I like projects I can make in a short amount of time and then move on. I feel I could invest more energy into one of a kind projects.

I did something similar with butterfly earrings, when my non-profit organization hosted a Butterfly Attractor Gardening Lecture. Unfortunately, everyone wanted the plants, not the jewelry. I later sold the earrings at other events.

Thanks for the encouragement. It is really hard to make jewelry in bulk. If I were more efficient, I'd make only one design and churn out duplicates, but I feel oddly obligated to make them somewhat unique. (If "somewhat  unique" is the right phrase.) I think I'd have to turn down a request for 150 of something, though that would be quite an accomplishment to finish!

I have not made things in bulk for charity so far. Like Naomi, I do not like to create more than one of what I make. This way, all of my work is unique. I especially like the green earrings!
