This summer I am standing up in my friend Amy's wedding. We've been friends since we were in seventh grade, and I couldn't be more honored that she asked me to be a bridesmaid. My only concern is being able to hide enough tissues in my bouquet. (Yes, I'm a crier.)
In addition to being a bridesmaid, Amy also asked me about the possibility of making the bridesmaid jewelry. Nothing is settled quite yet, but I'm looking forward to sitting down with her and discussing ideas. The dresses are strapless, which is a great neckline to work with, and they're a fun color called peony, which is kind of like a subdued fuschia. While thinking of ideas, two past BeadStyle projects came to mind.
"Maid to order," by Linda Augsburg, is the first. This one is nice because it offers variations. If you're a subscriber, there is also an online article that offers matching bracelet projects to along with the necklaces.
The other project I thought of was "Depth of the blues," by Irina Miech. I would use different colors (varying shades of pink to match the dresses) and I was also playing with the idea of making it two strands instead of three. That is the great thing about articles — you can always tweak them to meet your needs.
Between bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and wedding-themed craft nights, I think I'll have my work cut out for me this summer. What about you? Is wedding season a profitable time for those of you who sell your jewelry?
