In a couple of weeks, I'll be visiting New York for the winter JANY show. Even though the emphasis is on diamonds, there are hundreds of artists and companies showing gorgeous gemstone and precious metal jewelry. I'll be looking at collections from Hong Kong, Italy, Brazil, and other remote locales to see the trends for 2008. It's a wonderful source of design inspiration, too. Wandering the show floor at the Javits, I've met BeadStyle contributors and bought gemstone strands for projects in the magazine. I've also picked up a couple of pieces at wholesale prices, like a pink amethyst ring from Ray Griffiths and a lemon citrine and diamond ring from SeidenGang. I'm always on the lookout for rings, especially because I'm not a metalsmith and can't make them myself.
Anyway, let me know if you'll be attending the show and I'll see you there!
