DC Craft Mafia Show

I spent last Saturday hanging out with jewelry designer Tia Torhorst at the DC Craft Mafia Show in Bethesda, Md. I had a great time and met some incredibly talented and original people. I did do a bit too much shopping — I was there for eight hours and I only have so much willpower. One of my favorite purchases is a necklace created by Brookadelphia, "a sisterly collaboration" of Amber and Heather Zezeck. They make jewelry from laser-cut words "with a sprinkle of sophistication, a dash of irony and a heaping teaspoon of street cred." As I am a fan of all three, I bought the necklace that seemed most appropriate for me (see above) and a few for gifts.

As a "Godfather" fan, I loved the DC Mafia give-away. I know it's a bit gruesome, but no actual horses were harmed in the making of this tchotchke. I can't help it, I think it's cool. But you already know which necklace I bought, so are you really surprised?
