I was nursing a cold this weekend and used my hibernation to go through the mountain of magazines that I've been ignoring for months. While I was ripping out pages for my ideas file (recipes I'll never make, exercises I'll never do, organizing techniques I'll never use) I began noticing a number of articles with jewelry advice. Oprah especially has a lot to say. Three of my favorites tidbits:
From O: Oprah tells us when choosing jewelry we shouldn't mix moods or trends, but should avoid matched sets. We should consider studs and hoop earrings (rather than more distinctive, personal pieces for the jewelry we wear every day, always keep the lines clean, and don't wear jewelry on every possible body part (in other words. don't overdo it).
Also from O I think: There's no folio on the page and I don't remember where it's from (It may be Martha Stewart Living.) but it's called "JEWELRY RULES" so either way. I'm pretty sure we should listen. It's about adorning necks of a certain age. O (or M) says that massive necklaces and chokers can create wrinkles and creases (no!) but that one or more lightweight collar-length necklaces create a nice frame for the neck. Vivid earrings and a bunch of bangles can distract the eye from the neck altogether.
Last but not least, Real Simple's September 2007 issue has a great article on organizing your personal jewelry. Check out their Web site for the article and other great ideas.
