This weekend I took my annual trip to the Cedarburg (Wis.) Wine & Harvest Festival. It's always held right around my birthday, so I always feel like
the town's throwing me a block party. They have a farmer's market, lots of good food, and artists and craftspeople selling their creations on the
street. Every year there seems to be more jewelry artists. Of course, it makes me happy to see all these creative people making jewelry, but I wonder
if it's getting harder to sell jewelry at these venues with more and more people getting into beading.
And if these festivals are becoming less lucrative, what's the alternative? Is selling on the Internet picking up the slack? Trunk shows in boutiques or
private homes? Where does a beader go to stand out?
