This past weekend, I tuned the FM dial to National Public Radio, took advantage of the beautiful weather, planted myself on my sun porch, and was morphed into a Labor Day jewelry making fool. I created jewelry, jewelry, and more jewelry pretty much until the cows came home. The labor of love spanned about 1300 minutes – no worries- I snuck in some shuteye and I think I remembered to eat. I liken the experience to a runner’s high (not that I’ve personal knowledge in that arena) in which adrenaline courses through you and you effortlessly perform at your peak. I felt I was really in a creative groove. At the risk of tooting my own horn, I made about 60 cool, clever pieces. I am most proud of this Bodhi leaf necklace.

In the account of Buddha’s enlightenment, trees are significant, particularly the bodhi tree. It is believed that Buddha sat blissfully cross-legged for seven days at the foot of a Bo-tree. It is an inspirational tree; a symbol of peace and the ultimate potential within each of us.
I am also fond of these bracelets which convert into necklaces. This industrial line of androgynous jewelry will travel with me to Arts vs Craft in December.

Have you ever experienced a surge of creative energy? Or perhaps had a spurt when the craft goddesses smiled upon you? How long did it last and what did you create?
